Well it’s been a great year so far, and all of us at DennyMike’s wanted to share all our recent (and past) awards with you to keep y’all up-to-date on out going-ons! Hope your gearing up for summer like we are are stocking up on lot’s ‘a BBQ supplies.
What can I say?
The 23rd Annual Jack Daniel’s Invitational Barbecue Cook-Off… Sitting in on a tasting session of Jack Daniel’s world famous Tennessee Whiskey…. Angelo Lucches, Jack Daniel’s first outside salesman celebrating his 90th birthday and still going strong… Master Distiller Jeff Arnett and his very capable Master Taster Jeff Arnett… Guy Fieri of Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives… The judges welcome dinner and entertainment up on Barbecue Hill. Burning regrets in Jasper the Pig… Judging the best BBQ I’ve ever had, prepared by winning teams from all over the Country and the World…I could go on and on.
Teams from New England showed them Southerners that we really do know our barbecue from chowdah as Ardie Davis, aka Remus Powers opined in a recent article in the BullSheet and The National BBQ News. Congrats and a hearty ’Way to Go!’ to Smokin’ Hoggz (Abbington, MA) Bill Gillespie, Alan Burke and Shaune Connolly for winning the whole she-bang and taking home the Grand Champion trophy recognizing them as the best of the best in the barbecue world for 2011. Congrats and kudos as well to Lakeside Smokers (Methuen, MA) Mike and Kris Boisvert, for winning first place in ribs, which is no small feat in itself! Nor should I forget to mention my friends at I Que past Grand Champion at the Jack!) , Feeding Friendz, I Smell Smoke, Meat@Slim’s and Yabba Dabba Cue, to round out the New England contingent. Well done y’all!
It really can’t get much better, so what more can I say…?! Hopefully you’ll get a chance to check out the Jack for yourselves sometime soon; I garontee you’ll never forget it!
